Joy’s World
Community TV Variety Show
Joy's World is a positive-thinking, good-fun, multicultural, English speaking
variety show. It's producted by a non-profit group and created by volunteers from the Sydney metropolitan area.
Where: Free-to-air on Channel 31 in the UHF band (near SBS) in the Sydney metropolitan area. When: Every Sunday 11am-12noon
What happens during Joy’s World?The show is made up of a variety of
segments including:
- Wayne’s Winners - a fun and exciting game show
- Philosophy with George.
- Let’s Eat - a cooking segment hosted by three chefs.
As well as
range of interviews and musical/theatrical performances.
Be part of the Show!
Do you have:
- Videos - A video you’ve created which would be of interest to the
general public and would suit Joy’s World's non-controversial, feel-good theme (maybe a short film, funny skit, interview, animation, puppet show, nature/scenic footage)? Click here for more information.
- Equipment - A video camera and/or editing software you'd like to use?
- Talent - Acting, script-writing, musical, artistic, animation or would like to gain
some?
- Skills - in one of the facets of TV production
(technical, acting, artistic), or would like to gain some?
Or maybe
you’d like to:
- Be entertained as part of the studio audience.
- Socialise with others who are interested in TV production, sharing ideas
and experiences. Maybe you could form a mini-group to make a skit or short film for the show?
- Be a contestant on "Wayne’s Winners" quiz show.

along to be part of the making of Joy’s World.
When: every Saturday at 11am. Where: "Showbiz" room, South Sydney Senior’s Leagues Club, 265 Chalmers St Redfern (opposite Redfern Oval).
How to get there:
- Its a 5 minute walk east of Redfern Station along Redfern Rd.
- A 10 minute walk south of Central Station from the Chalmer St exit.
- A short bus trip on the 343 bus from Central Station's Chalmer St exit (click here for timetable & map).
Cost: Free
of charge ($2 raffle tickets on sale to help support the show).

VHS tapes $25 each* DVD-R $35 each* *Plus postage and handling fee of
$7.50. Or pick it up from us while we’re shooting at the South Sydney Leagues
club each Saturday.

History
- 1989 - Joy Hruby started her community TV involvement with live TV broadcasts over a cable TV system in Redfern (CTV1).
- 1993 - When Channel 31 started broadcasting free-to-air in the Sydney suburban area,
Joy’s show also formed part of the station’s regular program.
- 2002 - Channel 31's TV signal was boosted up on 17 June 2002 making it possible for people from as far as Hornsby, Katoomba and Wollongong to pick up the signal (with masthead TV booster).
- 2002 - In August 2002, Joy moved the production of the show from CTV1 Redfern and most if its content is currently being produced in and around the South Sydney Senior's Leagues Club (opposite Redfern Oval) on Saturday mornings.
